Hiya Gals!
2015 is wrapping up quite quickly and before you know it we will be into the new year. 2015 has been a year of learning for me in reference to my blog and makeup business.
During this past year I have made a few improvements to my blog by way of new design, style, and my biggest mission was to provide a higher quality of content. In 2016, I would like to continue on that curve to elevate my both my blog and business.
My Blog + Business Goals 2016
Blog Goals
Continue to Improve my Content: Since giving my blog a brand new layout style and overhaul back in September, I made a conscious decision to provide you all with better content. My first blog was inconsistent and because I was new to the beauty blogging arena, my content and images where not up to par in my opinion. Most of my posts were either not well thought out or they were just fillers so that I had something/anything to post. When I now look back to re-read some of them I'm like..."Geeze Keisha, what were you thinking?" So in 2016, I am planning more creative posts and tutorials on makeup and skin care in addition to sharing more of my DIY beauty projects....I love creating my own concoctions.
Continue to Improve on Photography: In my mission to improve my blog content, I also saw the need to produce better images as it's really no good having fab content if your photos that accompany them are not just as crisp and beautiful. For 2016, I plan to continue to learn more about photography and editing.
Post More Frequently (3 times a week): Posting regularly has always been a struggle for me as my life is pretty hectic with working full-time at the Bank, running Chrysalis, doing makeup for photo shoots, weddings etc. in addition to taking care of my family. Making the decision to even post twice a week was a little scary for me as I didn't want to fall into the same trap of "just posting" as I did with my first blog. I am hoping, to be able to up my posting schedule to 3 times a week without compromising the quality of my posts.
Youtube Refresh: Can you say crickets?? Lol! because that is exactly what my Youtube channel sounds like at the moment due to my neglect and lack of filming. In 2016, I would like to be able to upload a new video at least once a week.
Listen to What Readers Want: Shame on me! I have been slacking in this area all year! I have had requests for specific makeup tutorials, posts on my skin care routine and my foundation routine and I have yet to fulfill any of these requests. I do apologize, I really value all of your feed back and I intend to improve in this area.
Business Goals
Newsletters: Creating newsletters has also been something that I have struggled with since starting Chrysalis Cosmetics. I would either send them religiously for two months in a row then fall by the wayside for the next few months, and then I would start again then eventually stop. In the new year, my plan is to plan and create newsletters in advance and schedule them to auto send.
Focus on Prism: When I started Chrysalis Cosmetics a few years ago, I was the retailer of various popular makeup and beauty brands. My main focus for 2016 will be on promoting my brand PRISM, and to add customer focused products to the collection.
I have finally sorted out the international shipping aspect of things and I am looking forward to sharing PRISM internationally early next year.
Stop Shooting Down My Own Ideas: Most times, I am my own worst enemy. When I get an idea in my head for my business, rather than focus on the positives, I have always looked at just the negatives. This stops my creative ideas and strategies right in their tracks which hinders my overall progress. I have now joined a few creative groups where I can bounce my business ideas off of other professionals in the same field to gain useful feedback on both the positives and negatives.
Makeup Classes: Teaching makeup application has been something that I have always wanted to do, but because of the above (shooting down my own ideas) this dream has developed into nothing more than a thought. So I am currently pushing past those negative thoughts and working on the details to hopefully have this dream of mine up and running in 2016.
I so excited to see what I can accomplish in the New Year!
Thank you all for your continued support and consistent visits, I truly appreciate you all.
What are some of your blog, business or personal goals for 2016.

I am with you on the request departments, I've had an armful of request on reviews and comparison posts that I never got to so hopefully I'll improve my schedule in 2016. On the other hand, I'm not sure how much longer I will continue blogging, the little one is demanding more attention and blogging is starting to become a struggle.

It is quite hard to keep up with a strict schedule
DeleteSorry I hit publish by accident lol. What I was trying to say is that it is hard to keep to a schedule regularly and super difficult when you have a young family , so I feel you on that . Hopefully you will be able to keep blogging as I enjoy your posts

Goodluck on your goals next year :)

Keisha, those are excellent goals! You can do it girl! It's good to know your strengths and weaknesses. You know what to work on and what you're already good at it. Have fun with it all. Looking forward to reading your future posts.

These sound like really great goals, I completely understand what you mean about shooting down your own ideas. I do that too and I find it's such a bad habit.

This is such an amazing idea. I never thought about compiling a list of my blog/business goals for 2016. I want to blog more consistently as well. It's always a struggle for many people while trying to balance everything else going on in their lives. I would also love to start a Youtube channel. Let's see how it goes :) - culturedmisprint.com/blog
ReplyDeleteHi dear Keisha! Hope you'll have a great 2016 ! A bug hug! ♡
ReplyDeleteYou're right it's pretty challenging to commit to posting a certain number of posts weekly! I also want to increase the number from 2 to 3, but it's tough to keep up with it consistently.
