A Guide to Cleaning Your False Eyelashes

Hello Gals,

One of the benefits of false eyelashes is that they can be reused quite a few times before you discard them…..talk about getting your money’s worth!  However, the two key things to remember before reusing your false eyelashes are; they must be cleaned and sanitized properly to eliminate contracting serious eye infections, and that they should never be shared.

A Guide to Cleaning Your False Eyelashes

  • Once you have removed your false lashes, soak them in eye makeup remover for ten minutes.
  • Remove the eyelashes from the makeup remover, and place on a tissue to blot.
  • With tweezers, gently pull away all of the old glue from the eyelash adhesive strip.
  • Apply makeup remover on to a Q-tip and gently rub along the actual lash hairs. This will remove any left over mascara and residual eye makeup.
  • Rinse lashes with lukewarm water and blot dry with a tissue.
  • Next spritz the eyelashes with 70% rubbing alcohol to disinfect and gently comb through the hairs with a clean disposable mascara wand.
  • Lay flat to dry. (I usually leave mine overnight to dry)
  • Once dried, place the eyelashes back in their original container until the next time you are ready to wear them.

Thanks for reading.

  3. Interesting. Really never thought of reusing false eyelashes as I only wear them for very special occasions but this would be useful for someone who wears them often.

    1. hehe I used to be sooo bad at applying them too! I kept getting glue all over my eyelids! Until I learned the golden rule to actually let the glue get tacky and that takes more than the recommended 30secs and its so much easier to place and adjust the lashes! Also some good tweezers help!

  18. Omg! I recently started wearing false lashes and I have already damaged two beautiful pairs by trying to remove the glue from the band after I'm done wearing them. I'm so going to try to soak it in maybe micellar water or makeup remover next time like you have suggested before slowly removing the glue! Thank you for the great post!
